Check this out. Can't recall if he goes into convexing or not....there do seem to a bunch of new 4's popping up, me being one of the new owners. Is there a 4 sharpening thread, or recurve in general, that details the best way to go about convexing these style blades?
Harbor Freight 1x30 belt sander works a treat!

Do you guys just free hand/eyeball grind a angle or do you have some kind of angle wedge thingy you use?
.
For convexing I'm not so much worried about angles as much as I am about rounding the shoulder and thinning the edge. For that I use my eyecrometer and freehand meter.

Thanks for linking my vid, SP. I did not got into convexing the edges, but it would be very easy. Just add a layer of mouse pad under the Emory cloth, and work the blade away from the edge (backwards). Should work like a charm.
