There was some interest in a recent thread concerning the new Maglite LED flashlights and LED upgrade modules. Some had mentioned that the output wasn't all that great to begin with and that heatsinking issues further degraded performance from there. Well, if any of you are interested, Wayne Johnson of Elektrolumens fame just recently announced he's now manufacturing a couple of LED drop-in modules for Maglites. The triple emitter one looks like it's really going to be a screamer. IIRC, you won't have to do much more to the stock light than maybe scrape away a bit of anodizing from the battery tube. For maximum performance and output you'll want to pick up a set of rechargeable C or D cells. But the light will still work with alkalines and still probably blow the doors off the competition.
