For those of you who doubt FRN...

Very revealing!

I feel very much confident with my cheap knives now :)

The flexibility of the FRN maybe help it to support the pressure better than the steel...

Sorry for my english :o

Oh geee, I'm sorry about that. What I said was: "If that doesn't do enough try and loosen the joint by applying a little side bending action (not too hard) between the blade and the handle." I did say "not too hard".

This shows the difference between a plain carbon steel and a stainless steel. A carbon steel would have given you warning by taking a small amount of permanent bend before it gave. Stainless will just snap like that when if goes. I've done the same thing to AUS-8.

Given that the knife was not working up to expectations when you started to mess with it. And given that it did fail accidently. Maybe Sal would take pitty on you and replace your knife. Post a question over on our local Spyderco forum. And be real humble about it. Sal often comes through for people.

...So much for VG-10 being a TOUGH steel....

Have you tried glueing it back together with Superglue?.:D.

jeff,

naw, this one was my fault in it's entirety- i think ill take the bullet for it. it was a great knife when i was using it.

i think i might cut it apart w/ my dremel, cause i'm still curious as to what it was that's stifling the pivot.

had a Black TransAm that was not all together good enough and the thing just would not hold tight enough around the close corners and some people who should know better told me how to change the front suspension and the transmission and the engine and look at what happened to my car!

Stoopee
