For those that have both the Waki and the Rucki, which do you like better?

And why?

Good topic... i'm very interested as well.. i just ordered a Rucki, the price increase for the Waki was just too much for me....

They both have there advantages. The Waki for me is great if I need to really reach out to cut a limb. I also like the swell on the butt. It helps me hold on when doing some hard chopping. The Rucki is great for long treks in the woods. It is lighter and shorter so I can maneuver it easier. Both are great and a lot of fun.

I've used the waki very extensively but only handled a rucki.

I think the two handed girp of the waki makes it extremely functional as both a power chopper and a machete.

I didn't like how short the handle on the rucki was but it's also much lighter.

THE WAKI!!! This is the most gorgeous Busse/Bussekin sword I have ever owned. I had to show it off again...:o

Will they have another Waki run or is Swamp Rat doing the "limited edition" collector thing?

I like both for different reasons. My Waki is satin...love satin. My Rucki(s) are coated...users I haven't used yet. I don't live in the sticks, so I have very few to slice, chop, etc.

It was offered in a Ganza.

Same one that offered some Scrap Max variants, pork shanks and do-it-yourself 550 handled KDSHs.

I got both because I couldn't decide. Haven't received the Rucki to compare to the Waki yet though I suspect I will prefer the Waki's 2 handed grip ability and longer reach.

Now I want an AK 47 too........sucks that the prices on them are very inflated at the moment.

I think the Waki is more practical if you actually want to use it in the bush. But if you just want something to keep under the bed, the Rucki is more nimble, pointy and probably easier to use in confined spaces, whilst still having almost as much blade length as the Waki.

Ive owned both, ooitzoo has my waki, abd stabber just bought my rucki. Let me start by saying both are great knives! If I had the chance to though I wouldn't buy another waki. The rucki chopped a lot better, even when using a 2 handed swing on the waki. The rucki is an improved, more practical design imho. Lighter, more nimble, and designed for true chopping! The waki while fun, was just to impractical for me. I couldn't see myself taking it into the woods and beating just for the shear fact you kind of look like a clown. The rucki on the other hand I did take out, partly because of it size. Also partly due to the fact it's really just a massive chopping knife, where the waki is a short sword. Either way they were both great! That being said though the rucki is the only one I actually miss having. If your just looking for a WOW piece to have a collector then the waki is probably more your speed. As with everything YMMV.

I sold my Waki, I found the handle to be too heavy. If the tang were tapered, more weight would be in the blade. A two handed swing was just akward, it lacked power. Try it with an 18" machete, you have a longer swing arc with one arm, not both.
It's made well, very tough steel, and the handle does feel good in hand, the shape is excellent. If the tang was tapered or lighter, I would have kept it.

The rucki chopped a lot better, even when using a 2 handed swing on the waki.

Unless there was an appreciable difference in the edge geometry on yours or you found it more difficult to control, I don't understand how the rucki could have outchopped the waki??

IMO, they're totally different animals. I think the Waki is the more versatile of the two, however, I'm a big guy with large hands and that certainly plays into it. I have no trouble with a full one-handed swing using the Waki.

With the recent limited release of the 1311, I am questioning myself as to whether I will be keeping my Ruckis. I think they're "cooler" than the 1311, but for me the 1311 wins in every practical category I can come up with.

Snwbrd...please correct me if mistaken, but I believe it's a custom shop piece available at a show or through a Ganza.

You nailed it bro! She was a Swamp Rat custom shop piece available through a ganzaaa. I can't remember which ganzaaa for the life of me; there have been a few over the years LOL.
