What do you use as the 'necklace' portion of the kit? I have a new Izula II and the paracord necklace is very thin. What do you use? Anything more comfortable?

I use paracord, but if you want something thicker, you could do a 3-strand braid of paracord, or just double it up even.

Hi Jason, Glad to see you posting again. I use a leather thong with the ends though a bead, no knot.

I've got a Mora #2/0 (the 3"er). I have made it a neck knife merely by looping string through it. Regular old string. Nothing fancy or super strong like paracard (although I have one of those in a bracelet). But the string still does the job and holds it there. The Mora is very light and the string is soft and smooth to touch, so there is no comfort issue for me. In fact, I often forget that it's there.

The Izula is gonna be a bit heavier, but the string will still hold it there. Shoe laces have worked well for me as well. I find that if I have a bit of paracord, I tend to not use it, b/c it's expensive. Get something cheap and compromise some strength and you'll never cry over having to use it. :)

sorry for being so long winded... I'm working on it :)

I use the leather necklace which came with my GB knife, its quite thin, which I like, as I don't want very strong material around my neck.

If grabbed or twisted the material will break, not tighten around my neck...

I use gutted paracord. Yes, I understand that I will be chided for taking the risk but that's how I roll (apparently).

I actually slide a ball chain through some gutted paracord. It's more comfortable, and can still break away if it gets caught on something...

Paracord and a little clip to attach to a shirt button hole so it doesn't flop around much.
No break-away cord for me, I'm living dangerous!

living dangerously... ha! i have a cold steel spike I sometimes wear with a 4 in 1 chainmaille necklace. not been hanged yet...

Two strand twisted hemp. I wish I woulda used three strands and braided it,the twisted string tends to twist around at times.

Ball chain for me. I find paracord or leather to be abrasive and accumulate dirt, sweat, etc. Ball chain feels as smooth as ball bearings :) and never seems to get dirty.

This is how we wear Dog Tags in our Army.
So I also wear a Buck Hartsook the same way.
