The new Doug Ritter designed survival blade is out. I took it on a hike yesterday and did a quick review here http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/837777-Getting-the-Ritter-Becker-out-on-the-trail

It's really a well thought out design, I love the blade shape. Though it's larger than what I generally carry, it's not heavy and feels very nice in hand

Thanks Tknife,
I saw that one a while ago. Do you see many differences from the BK7? It looks very much like a drop point BK7 to me. Nothing wrong with that, just the price point for me.
I will say, I like this design better. GKN

I like it , Doug Ritter has excellent taste in knives first griptillians and now this.

In the great scheme of things, it does share a resemblance to the BK7. But it is shorter, 6" blade and narrower. I haven't owned a 7 in a long time, but I believe this knife is also lighter. I think it falls right in between the 2 and the 7. But the slight differences are what I like about it. I'm a sucker for broad, spear shaped blades like this. It also has a much higher grind, almost full flat except for maybe 1/2" at the spine. I've always been a big fan of Doug's designs, and of course Ethan is the man for designing hard use knives. They came up with something that seems close to perfection for me.
