I haven't fired my 301 that much at allbut I've got thousands of openings on a leek and chive and they've had no problems and the 301 is much more heavy duty.
Hmm, I just got a Kershaw 1670 blk, after 3 days of opening it is still good, however, I cut the crap out of my thumb while closing it. Kershaw (ZT) has a great repair policy.
The torsion bar can be easil replaced if broken, and ZT will send replacements free of charge. I have carried mine daily for about a year and a half with no issues. It stills opens as it did frsh out of the box. Just keep it clean ond lubed.
I've broken several bars on various kershaws, mostly from playing with them too much. As everyone already stated, you can replace them or send the knife back to kai, they have excellent service. Also, the knife will work fine even if you do break the torsion bar, some people realize they like their kershaws better as a manual when this happens.
I've opened mine at least a zillion times and it still fires true. I take it apart to clean periodically, and militec'd it when I first got it. It was a user when I picked it up so who knows how many other openings it had been through.
This is the only problem I've had with it. After tweaking a bit more it seemed to get comfortable. I haven't replaced that washer. Disregard the insinuation that I don't take care of my knives, I'd only had it a week at that point.
I drive buy Kershaw several days each week. You want to know how well that bunch stands behind their work. I'll tell you. They are so fastidious about their products that I don't dare slow down with the window open for fear that one of them will grab up my 300 series to make certain that all is in order with it, clean and sharpen it before I can drive past.
My thumb has calluses from working this knife while the knife itself remains a marvel/high water mark of folding cutlery by never failing to please and amaze me.
if its similar to my kersahw mini cyclone, they can be pushed out, but considerable force is required. I do wish they had studs like BM that can be easily taken out with a torx screw for cleanings and such.
