Bowie and sword are both terrific! Thanks for the pics. I join in the request for some more info on these pieces.

JD,

It was very nice meeting you at Blade. Your work is superb. Please show us more of it, more often!

Best,

Peter

Dang JD...you just don't have any tallent:D

In all seriousness, JD is mega tallented in many fields. His carving is always tasteful and recognizable as his own, never have seen a flaw in his damascus, and it's always an original pattern. He is a teacher of many, a friend to more, and has always left me with a lifted spirit and a smile.

So yes, please do show more of your work. It is definately worthy.

Tell us about the knives,J.D. What are the specs,whats the handles made of?,Blade length,width,weight,etc?Knife knuts want to know!!:D

Thank you thank you thank you for posting these images.

Your talent and artistry are amazing. One day, I might be able to splurge on such a luxury.

Until then, I have you to thank, for the very affordable Spyderco JD Smith collaboration, of which I recently have acquired, thanks to a member on this forum.

Gee Bailey, what a nice thing to say,thank you. As for specs;
Bowie I believe is English style clip point two billet composite c.300layers and laddered on top sharks tooth pattern on the bottom, mokume fittings, african blackwood hilt. OAL 18 1/2"
Sword;
six bar composite, interupted opposing twists in the core, straight grain next to the core and firestorm pattern around the edges and tip. damascus and mokume fittings. some kind of really dense hardwood hilt.OAL, 28"

After seeing those pics, I'm afraid I've gotta go have a cigarette. :eek: :thumbup: :)

Stunning work (had to expect that when I opened this thread :)).

Thanks for dropping in and showing both of those great pieces.

You guys are going to turn me into a sword collector. I especially like this one with it's dagger type grind.
