I have a new Trapperlock, Chestnut Bone CV. This is my second one now. When they were first introduced I bought a red bone version. I was making feather sticks for last nights fire with my Chestnut CV and the dang liner lock kept coming loose and the blade begin to close. After the third time I noticed it was my index finger when I squeezed the handle. I had to choke down on the handle past the cut out which was uncomfortable. I noticed the cut out to unlock the knife is cut deeper than on my red bone Trapperlock. I had no problems with my earlier red bone version doing the same chore.

Cut out on my Red bone Trapperlock is just over 1/16" while the Chesnut CV is 3/16". A considerable difference. Considerable enough to mention here as this could be dangerous. I went back to the hardware store and checked the other trapperlocks. All of the Chestnut CV were cut the same (3/16") and some of the Blue Long Tail C Trapperlocks at nearly 1/4".

I don't have chunky hands, just average and I'm holding the handle the same as any other knife I use. My question: How deep is the cut out on your trapperlock and has it folded on you (or tried to)? Luckily I didn't get cut.

Thanks,

Mora
