Too bad these don't come in smaller amounts, quart or gallon only. They even make a marine spar varnish. Interesting finishing tips section.

example tip:

"Preventing the finish from gelling in the can- as you use the finish from the can and oxygen remains in the available space the finish will begin to oxidize as evidenced by gelling. A simple, effective method for preserving the liquid finish is to add water to the can. The oil will rise to the surface. But, you will need a basting syringe or something similar to draw off the finish from the can for future applications. You will not be able to pour from the can after adding water as the water will co-mingle with the oil as it exits the can."

Looks like good advice to me. I use wide-mouth syringes for special gluing applications already. Would be just a simple switch for me.

However, I've never had the Tung Oil gell up on me. The only problem I've had is it turning green. :eek:
