Boys and girls, Vikash just brought me a box from the PO full of khukuris and what else I don't know because I have not opened it yet. I will do that in the morning and I am going to be running specials all weekend long for the stay at homers so they will not be bored.
And speaking of holidays......
Dasein, the Hindu religious festival, is coming up in about a month and BirGorkha will be mostly dark for a couple of weeks although some kamis may be working part time at least.
And since many kamis are living right at BirGorkha it is hard to say how things will play out. There may be a big puja right down in the shop. But for HI in general, we are trying to build up enough inventory to last us thru Dasein and here's how we do that.
HI will give each kami and sarki a VERY generous cash gift so that they may enjoy this festival in greater fashion than most of the poor folks of Nepal and all are well aware of this. Knowing that gifts are based on seniority AND performance the boys are putting out a larger number of khukuris than usual to get our attention and the quality is almost astounding. They may not know how to read and write but they know how the game is played!
Stay tuned!
