Does anyone know where I can buy a spare wristband for a 2000 or 1999 manufactured Timex Humvee, and how to replace it? I really don't want to have to take it to a shop and get charged mega bucks to change a simple band, but it's a bear getting those little screws to come loose. Thanks in advance.

The trick to getting the screws loosened is this:

The "screws" on the Humvee have heads on both ends.

But - each "screw" is actually 2 separate screws, a little tiny one that screws inside the thread of the other one, which is much longer. (The heads on the little one and the longer one are identical, though - so it looks like just one screw with a head on each end.)

In other words, to get it apart need 2 tiny eyeglass repair screwdrivers - put one in each end and twist in opposite directions. One clockwise and one counterclocwise. (You're unscrewing the little tiny screw out of the longer screw.)

So, once that's done, for both ends of the strap, you'll have 4 screws -the 2 long ones and the two little short ones that screw into them.

Then you've got to find a strap - try calling Timex's 800 customer service number.

Rifon, thanks I've worked with through-bolts ( I think that's what they call that type of screw) before on toilet hardware, but it didn't even occur to me that these could be the same thing. I'll try the 800 number, but if anyone knows of an online retailer for these bands it would be a big help. Thanks.

many jewelers will do watchband adjustments for very little money. i was charged $6 to adjust a titanium band on a watch...it was not as easy a task to do either...it took them almost 20 minutes to get it properly adjusted on my wrist

That Is Very Interesting. Perhaps If The Original Poster Calls Around He'll Find A Couple Of Possible Solutions, Such As Going With A Plastic Band, A Leather Strap, Or Even A Metal Bracelet.
