I've been living with Benchmade's 440 model (the Opportunist) for a few days now, and fans of Wharncliff blades ought to look into this beautiful Warren Osborne design. A stout 3-inch blade of S30V, 3.84-inch handle of jigged anodized aluminum and wood, modified Michael Walker liner lock. A fine EDC that sure is sheeple-friendly.

mine locks up perfect-these has a great fit and finish for the price-mine is my weekender edc, just have to remember not to put any change in the same pocket, dont want to scratch it-lol

Johnny-How is the lock on your 440? Lockup? Thanks

My 440 locks up like a dream--perhaps the thing I like most about this wonderful knife. After all, it is a Benchmade--made in the USA. I also like the beauty of the wood, which is alot darker and richer than my attachment (the more you handle it, the darker it gets). And talk about sharp out of the box--very sharp. A very nice cross betweeen a gent's knife and an EDC. Warren Osborne and Benchmade have come up with a classic. When you talk about not scratching your knife--let me say this: In my right front pants pocket, I carry just my leather wallet and my knife--so there is no risk of scratching the knife. The left front pants pocket carries my keys and my spare change and anything else.

I handled one once and it locked-up nicely. It would make a great gents knife or for someone who just likes small knives.
