After a long but patient wait, i recieved my Crowell Bowie. I just told Jim to make me a Crowell bowie. Didnt give him any "this or thats" with the order.
What i got was very pleasing. To be honest i havent pulled out the tape measure, but the blade is about 10", and a tad over 1/4" at the spine. It is a LAMINATE of A203E shells with a 1095 core. You cant see it in the pic, but there is a neat transition line between the layers that almost looks like a Japanese temperline. The gaurd/ferrule/pin are nickel silver and done perfectly in that Crowell way. The gaurd is domed over with no file work, it carries very comfortabley. The handle is curly maple, a reddish tone with black stripes. The handle didnt photo well, i will try and get some better photos tommorow.
The knife is sharp beyone belief, and has the thinnest edge ive seen in a bowie, clip is very sharp as well.
Here is a photo, not good quality but it will give you an idea of the general design of the knife.
