Lorenzo Lamas just came out with "The Immortal", a new show about a sword and gun wielding demon killer looking for his daughter who's in the clutches of demons. Lamas is aided by a fellow Immortal and a woman who's experience with demons has lead to her meeting the Immortal.

Well, it beats Highlander: the Raven, the Immortal is actually faster paced and the background story is shot at you real quick.

Then again, there's Tessie Santiago in Queen of Swords http://www.queenofswordstv.com
A masked woman in California, mistress of the whip, sword, and mounted combat. She fights the evil governor who just happens to be Kronos from Highlander. Mythos is there too.

Bare in mind that I have never seen the show, but I find it hard to believe that any show that has Lorenzo Lamas as the main character (personally I don't think the guy could act his way out of a paper bag with a chainsaw) will be anywhere near as good or near as successful as the highlander show.

Well, every now and again there's the need to watch a sword on tv. Now you get two fixes.

Nothing has compared to the Highlander. "The Raven" was terrible. "Endgame" leaves us guessing and wanting something different. The cartoon version was way out there. Even the Highlander movies 1,2, and 3 weren't all that great (My opinion). The Highlander series was the best quality entertainment out of everything that is Highlander oriented. The only logical thing left is for Adrian Paul to do a few movies as the next James Bond. As for Lorenzo, didn't we learn from the "Renegade"?

I hate to admit it, but I watched both episodes that aired. Let me begin by saying that I couldn't believe a network station like NBC would air such a show. It seems like it would be more appropriate for video or a cable network. That said, I am a fan of fantasy and martial arts films, and The Immortal is on par with the low-budget dubbed martial arts "One Armed Swordsman" stuff. But...It was entertaining. Lorenzo Lamas' Character forges his own katana blade, hides his blade under a trenchcoat, has a helpless sidekick, and there are cleavage-revealing killer women. Sort of a Highlander meets Zena meets Sonny Chiba kind of thing. Better than Highlander? Not in my opinion. The Highlander series played off a very original storyline and was shot in exotic locale. The Immortal looks like it was shot in Downtowm LA. But you know what? If another episode airs, I'd probably watch it. What other sword-wielding pseudo-Japanese-trained muscle bound, zen-like long haired Fabio shows are out there?

Sorry Smoke, I didn't mean to come off so hyper critical.

Bimmer1, I think you are dead on about the t.v. series being far better than the other shows or most definately better than the movies.
