For you serious metal pounders

Me want... :D

Thanks for the heads up Sean, that's a 3 hr. drive from here.

Obviously I've seriously dipped into my toy budget this week... but oh how that would be a nice addition to go with my press.

Are you trying to say I couldn't strap that to the top of my Mitsubishi???

:D :p :D

Thanks buddy-

It would be cheaper to hire you as my driver (aren't I fancy? ;) ) than to drive Dad's truck over to get it since you get about 3 times the fuel mileage he does.

I don't have anywhere to put that thing, but I think it really wants to live on this side of the mountains! ;)

Man I'd love for that hammer to come live with me, but Washington's a mite far to drive. :grumpy:

Don't worry about space. I'll be happy to store it for you bud. Feel free to stop by and use it anytime. ;)

figure this for a 50# er??? not a #25?? Wonder what i'd cost to get her to Texas??

mitch

Well, it wasn't meant to be :(

There were some issues with this hammer, so I was looking at price with a relative eye... the dies are GROSSLY oversized for this hammer. A combination die for a 50# LG should only be 2.5"X5"... there has been some real odd-ball modifications done to it... even though I could have driven over and picked it up, with gas prices where they are, that would have cost me pretty bad as well.

One thing that really stuck with me, was I contacted Sid (owner of Little Giant) and he said he would NOT bid on the hammer. He gets $4800 for a totally rebuilt 50#.

With a price-tag like that, he obviously figured it would take some serious doing to get it running in top form.

Oh well, I really want a 100#er anyway ;)

Damn you Sean, you got me all hot and bothered for nothin' :D

Just kidding, I REALLY appreciate you posting the link... as I had just about given up on looking for hammers on ebay. Thanks dude :D

Sorry it didn't work out..those things scare me a bit

I used to work in a forging plant, and I ran a 500ton press. 30' tall, and would stroke at about 2hits/second if the brake gave way ( I saw it happen)--I also saw a guy lose an ARM!
