I keep admiring the new Forager model.

Can anyone tell me anything about the design? Size? Intended uses? etc?

I haven't used one yet, but I have handled them. I can't speak to all the factors behind the design, but the blade geometry and forward weight distribution would let it excel in taking out briers and smallish branches while foraging for wild edibles. Then with that point and wicked swedge it has some nice intent to it. I think maybe it was designed for gathering wild edibles in places where the competition was a little stiff :)

Its almost the length factor of a Camp Knife, but it is very light by comparison. Its a big knife that isn't too heavy to carry on your belt. I think the duties of this knife are exactly the same as the camp knife but for a differenty style knife user. But in addition to those duties, its lighter and more nimble and could be used with greater dexterity for smaller tasks. I think its an ideal 'small chopper' for a Nessmuk set. I'm going to make a trio with the Forager, the Bushhermit, and the Sylvrfalcn and/or some other small knife.

I'm super impressed with this one. I've tried to keep one since we started making it, but have not succeeded in keeping one yet. There are two avail today. If one doesn't sell I'm going to take it outside and beat on it before someone offers me $ for it. I'm determined.

Great! I actually have the bottom blade in the picture coming to me. Very Pumped!

Just a thought but if they do both sell, one of the buyers might be honored to have a video of you beating on something with their knife.

Hey, it just registered there was only one in the sale thread today. Hope that means one was kept out for a beating video!

i tried to hand him the other one but he refused and said "it has to be offered for sale before he will keep it"

Anyone know of any sheath that the Forager may fit in?

I'm going to need one as well. Probably going to ask Jason (Diomedes Industries) to make one after he finishes the sheath he's making for my Mosquito now.

Lol, from one extreme to another. Jason shouldn't be getting bored any time soon :)

Andy has been on a roll for the last few months. He has introduced a lot of new models and done some awesome design work. The Forager is, IMHO, the best of the bunch! The grind lines and swedge on that that thing are just simply STUNNING. (and I don't even like swedges!) When I look at the Forager I see not only an amazing design, but the skill of a true craftsman.

I keep on thinking that my Fiddleback collection is "complete," but then Andy does stuff like this and I start setting my alarm for a few minutes before noon on Friday.
