hello I’ve just been gifted a GEC 56 and am wondering about trying to protect the blade with a forced patina. Is this a good idea and if so any suggestions about how to go about doing it?

Cut an apple into slices every day for a week. Wipe the blade off after you're done, and don't forget the nail nick where the juice pools.
if you need a darker patina, go two weeks!

Stirring hot coffee and letting it dry on the blade has worked on mano 01 and 1095 blades I have. It takes a little while, but ends up with a fairly dark and uniform patina.

I used mine to cut apples for a couple weeks and now it has a beautiful patina on it!
