Well I finally picked her up from the PO. This is one wicked looking blade. I have to be honest though and say that I am not ready to use and abuse it just yet. Mainly due to the answers I have received regarding their being CA legal or not. I just do not want the hassles. But if I do not get something I am looking for via a trade then you can bet I will be using/abusing/stripping/filming this baby in action.

I will say that I absolutely love these handles. Perhaps my favorite so far. It has plenty of spine, in front of the "band breaker" to baton with. It feels very light and quick yet enough heft to do some decent chopping. If I do keep this one I can't wait to test thrusting it into and through various materials. It came with an Okuden sheath. Here are some pics I just snapped of it.

The tip looks like a awsome "penetrator"

Hehehe.....I must ask.....

DOES IT FLY~~~

Why is it not cal. legal?

it is my opinion that it is perfectly legal and within the guidlines of the ca penal code.

problem is, many interpret the law differently than i do.

california prohibits daggers. but the section does not specify that a dagger is a double edged knife, though that is the commonly accepted definition.

the band breaker could be considered a double edge, and therefore illegal if an officer or judge decides it is a dagger.

What I have been told by forum members and some local LEOs, two Sherrifs in my neighborhood:

(1) The band breaker "could" be counted as a double edge depending...
(2) Nothing on the books specifically out law a double edged knife in CA but I could be hassled.

So it is the "may be" and "could be" that I shy away from.

Done and done! :)

You could send an email to the DOJ or whoever would make that call.

The DOJ seems to respond to firearms questions fairly quickly.

If they don't give you the answer you want, ask them for a legal precedent. Some DOJ people will make a knee-jerk reaction without doing the proper research, some times you have to call them on it.

Cool! ;) I'll have to add this bit to my "Trade" thread. Thanks for the history lesson as always LeatherHog.:thumbup:
