through use of ketchup and candle wax i have created a kickass (or at least something that has captured my easily amused mind) "camo" patterned patina.

honestly, i was expecting something dumb...
But that is a great idea and the knife looks neat! I think i am going to go get some wax, or maybe hotglue and do this on one of my knives, i even have ketchup...

i tried painting my knife only to have all the paint start peeling off... this is the second time ive painted it... i primed it too! what the hell am i doing wrong?

Most forced patinas look stupid and ruin great looking knives, not the case with yours.
Great job.

I might want to try that out.
How exactly is this done?
Sorry if this is a dumb question but im new.

You can get more interesting kinda damascus patterns with droplets of mustard, apple vinegar etc. without the wax.

if you have a non-stainless carbon bladed knife you can force a patina using acidic liquids like vinegar, ketchup mustard etc.
thanks to MOD esav for that info
