Forced Patina ~~~ The End ~~~ Finished Product!!!

Onions.... I threw a couple onions in the food processor and let it rip. I placed the minced onions on both sides of the blade and left it for 1/2 hour then rinsed it off.

Essentially this isn't a "forced" patina because you're just exposing it to what you'd normally do if you were using it to prepare meals every day.

Since it is cold & flu season, try using it to slice up some citrus. I've had good results on 1095 with citrus.

Well, I'd say a forced patina would be exposing it to something especially caustic which would very quickly result in the appearance of a good 5 years of use. Acids, bleach, or some saltwater dipping come to mind.

Another method is immersing the stripped bare blade into some hot apple cider vinegar.

Interesting to see the different results from the ingredients. I think the mustard/vinegar combination is always a winner.
