It arrived today! A Snakewood Raindrop Damascus Mnandi! Pics to follow (family stuff going on and can't play with it like I want to). Feb 18, 2014 born date.

Questions (of course):

1) Can I permanently remove the clip? Is there a "cap" available to replace the clip? All I have found so far is a thread that didn't quite get to the answer: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/930945-Observation-on-Mnandi-and-question

2) Do I need to protect the Damascus blade with anything special? A card that came with the knife said treat like a regular (CRK) blade. But I swear I read on here or the CRK website that CRK said to use a specific oil/lube for Damascus...but I cannot find it now.

Anyway, I am ecstatic! and thinking about my next CRK knife....

Where's the pics????

I'm interested in a cap to replace the clip as well. good question?

Pic with my phone. I will post better later.

The old style mnandi, you could simply remove the screw, then the clip and just re-install the clip screw and it would be fine. With the new style, the clip is all one piece now as its part of the screw also. You must contact CRK and they will send you a screw ( for a small fee I would imagine ) so you can remove the clip and install it like the older model should you choose to do so. I personally like the older style, but thats me. Not so much for the clip, but I like that the older style mnandi was easy to open one handed because the nail nick was blasted to give it grip, while the new ones are polished and there is no grip to be had, thus making opening one handed much harder. With damascus, I don't believe any are blasted in this area, so it does not apply to the beauty you are showing off here. Very nice. I love raindrop damascus.

I've carried stainless raindrop bladed knives for years, currently one of my edc is a raindrop mnandi bark. Never treated them any different than non damascus and never had any problems with them. Others were william henrys...

"Hello, it's called raindrop-damascus." ;)

Great catch - congrats.
If you use and care for it like any other knife, it will serve you well.
If stored, I'd clean and oil it - like any other knife.
As for removing the cilp, you'll need the male part of the screw (as posted above)

CRK once used high carbon damascus. It needed to be oiled to prevent rust. Now however, CRK uses stainless damascus which can be treated like any other stainless blade.

Thanks nyefmaker / red mag!

I will do a quick online search and if nothing, I will contact CRK for the screw.

Thanks! You rattled my memory, its coming back to me now. I think it what I read was in regard to the carbon Damascus.

Thanks for all of the comments! and I still want to get some better pics. I have not found the screw for permanently removing the clip online. I will try calling CRK Monday.
