Lots of ways to force it but one of the easiest is to clean the blade real good with rubbing alcohol then without touching the blade at all just dip it into some vinegar that has been heated up in the microwave. It doesn't take very long and within seconds you'll see the bubbles coming off the blade as the metal and vinegar are reacting to each other. This will give you a nice dark grey patina. The longer you keep it in the darker it will get. After your done then rinse the blade off with fresh water then dryou and oil it and you're good to go.

Cut apples once a day for 2 months :) Just oil the rest of the knife (pivot and liners) if you're afraid of patina developing into rust.

Mustard is pretty cool, just put a small bit on and rub a thin layer around on the knife with a q-tip. You can draw some neat patterns with it too. I myself usually stick a knife into a potato, pull it out and let sit for 30 minutes, wipe it clean, then repeat until i get the amount of patina I want.
