Indian George,
With all the talk here about the mixing of the gas being very important to the complete burning would you add an elbow after the gas intake if you were building it now?
Thanks, Lynn

PS: Thanks to who ever gave us the link to the online spelling checker!

I know all these forge questions have been beat to death, i am going to build one soon and spend about 3 hours last night reading them all and all the links, i just have a few more questions. is there a big difference between a vertical forge and the other ones (horizontal i guess) i would think a vertical forge would create hot spots if working with larger blades, is this not true,

also, does anybody have any evidence of which burner configuration is optimal or will they all get the job done? i am trying to decide between the sidearm and the other one, i forget whose name is attached to it, the one that's made from the reducer,
any thoughts?

Personally I like the vertical forges for welding. the horizontal ones for forgeing.

My vertical forge has an id of 11"x20" nice even heat. I use a Clone of the mongo burner. So the dang thing is portable.

All things being equakBlown burners probably use less gas than a venturi. But I still like the venturi.

And just to add full to the flames her's some more reading.

No, I would build it the same way. I have no problems with the burner and can weld a 4 to 5 psi. :D
