Forge Build, Couple Questions

I've finally got everything (minus the solenoid for the high flow side, as the one I bought had stripped threads), for my build. I have a couple questions. Here is where I'm at so far.

I was going to do 2 layers of 1" of the lower temp Inswool with a 1" layer of the higher temp but the chamber size would have been too small. I plan on doing some bigger blacksmithing projects out of this as well as bladesmithing, so just 1" layer of each with 1/4" layer satanite, thin layer of ITC-100 and bubble alumina for the floor.
I'm planning on the end cap to be the back. Is that a big enough hole? It's slightly over 2.5" diameter.
The burner will come in at a tangent to the top faced forward about 12.5*. Where is it best to put the thermocouple sheath in? I've read from the top, but how far forward? Can I put it inline with the burner (straight across, so the flame will miss it directly or is that too far back and will read colder than it actually is? And coming in from the top how do I mount it so it stays in place?
I still need to drill the mounting holes for the burner and need a cart for it all. And I'll weld some 1" pipe parallel to the floor and make a work rest that way. And will weld up some angle iron to hold fire bricks for the back and front to close off completely.
The gas line will be a split flow for high/low flow with a solenoid running the high end off a PID, and a master solenoid off the tank in case of power outage.
Stacey gave me wiring tips for everything, but I'm sure I'll be back asking for help on wiring when I get to that.

The rear port should come down to the level of the forge floor. I like a rear port of 2"X2" and a front port of 2'X3". The best setup is to make them bigger and use firebricks to close them off as needed.

I would put the TC sheath on the same side as the burner and towards the back.

Let me know what other help you need. You've got my email.

So for the thermocouple, put it say under where the flame will come out? And how far in does it need to go in, or the sheath? For doing the front, do I apply satanite across the seam of the wool in the front and the sides? Essentially making it as one? Or cover the sides then cover the front separately?
