Hi all,

I got my forge built, lined and coated with satanite. My question is should I fire the satanite before applying the ITC-100 or just coat it and fire both together?

Thanks,
John

I am not sure that it matter either way. I just coated mine with ITC 100 over the Satanite that was already there.

I also used ITC 213 on the burner element and then cat litter in the bottom.

Hi John,

I usually recommend heat curing 2 to 3 coats of Satanite and then coating with the ITC-100, tends to make for a robust coating. Let's see a pic of that forge when you get it done! :)

Also, I'm trying to get the plumbing setup for this. What regulator should I get, will just a barbeque regulator work or is something more professional required?

Thanks,
John

My [edit]adjsutable high pressure[/edit] regulator works great on my burner.....

Darren built it! :D

Whoa Tom!!!:D  :D , that's not a BBQ regulator on there per se, it's an adjustable high pressure regulator...a BBQ regulator wouldn't supply enough gas for a forge! :)

Hi John,

Go down to your local gas supply and ask for an adjustable (0-20 psi) regulator...should be able to find one for $25 or less depending on style...I'm looking at getting set up as a distributor for various gas forge parts (regulators, fittings, etc.) but currently don't carry this stuff...hopefully in the near future...

Whoops, Sorry! It "looks" just like the one on my grill though. I thought the adjustable high-pressure regualtor was like the one with the guage on your vertical forge.

Again sorry, I was basing that solely on what it looked like.

Hey Tom, They come in many shapes and sizes. :D

You coming up this way for Harley's Hammer-in next month? If so let me know, we can meet at my place and drive up together if you want... :)

I have to agree. Darren went out of his way to help me with locating some refractory material I could not locate anywhere else. A class act.
