Hey all after gathering information from the forum and its psoters i have finally gotten around to building my gas forge. so here is a look and some comments on what I plan to do feel free to jump in if I am going about it wrong. IG's plans served as the bases for the forge.

I am waiting on a 1/8 compression fiting to finish. Instead of ceramic fibre I am using a refractory clay my buddy who onws a foundry said it works better for him and its free for me. I am using 1/8 copper line between the fittings. The regulator is 0-30.

The only thing about the using the clay is you lose insulating properties that you would get with the cerramic blanket. Other than that it looks like it will work.

:D That will do the trick for forging. :D I am not a big fan for venturi burnes. Do you plan on welding in it ????

Yes I plan on welding in it George but I was going to hook up a y syten blower as soon as I can find a squirrel fan. I figure I can just screw into the reducer and build some kind of choke into the piping.

What do you think?

Her it is with the liner in it is the chamber too big??

Surplus Center has blowers. I do not know how that will work screwed into the reducer.  The chamber size can always be made smaller. Your looks good . Good luck. :D

The blower should work fine screwed into the reducers. Thats how I run my forge. I used a 2" ball valve for a choke/throttle. Works just fine :)

IG, what type of burner do you use on your forge? I am planning on building a forge strictly for welding, and I want to know the best type to build. Is it too difficult to reach welding temps with a venturi burner?

I have a tutorial on my website on making a forge and burner. The venturi will get you to welding temp at over 10 PSI and a blower burner 4 to 5 PSI. ;)

You will have to tell me how this gas forge works out, i use a coal forge and ive hear little about gas forges so please let me know how well it works once you get this sucker built thanks

I will let you know deet, but I wont be building until spring. I just bought a motorcycle and my wife will flip if I spend any more money right now. I will probably follow IG's plan on his website fairly closely.
