Forge recommendation

I’ve made about 20 or so knives. I’m a stock removal guy. I use 1095 or 1084 when I make my knives. I’m currently using a single brick forge. This is where you use a kiln brick and bore it out and dump a map gas torch into it.

I’d like to upgrade. I’d like something not overly big as this is a hobby for me. I also want to purchase vs. build. What’s the next logical step for me? Any brands/models for recommendation?

Probably the best bang for your buck is an Atlas forge from Charles ( here on Shop Talk).

Few forges, reagrdless of cost, beat a NC Tool and Forge Whisper Lownboy or Whisper Knifemaker. They are more expensive than an Atlas, but if you plan on serious forging and HT, they are great.

I highly recommend chili forges. Sure, they're expensive but you can grow into it as your skills progress without having to worry about the forge's capabilities.

The Atlas Graham is a solid choice and they have them in stock currently. I am 110% satisfied i purchased mine

My belief is that the original Atlas is the best bladesmith forge available. Would you rather have a sports car, or a dump truck? To be fair, my neighbor just got a dump truck, and it's awesome. To each their own, I've adapted and increase my lineup to include an offering for multiple sizes.

After 9 years here on Bladeforums, I've got a full lineup of stainless forges mostly designed with input from members here. Single and double burner wool forges, small and large IFB forges. All are stainless steel so they won't rust. You're going to want a good anvil as well, and I've got those.
