Here is another I have done out of my new forge. It is from 1095 bar stock, forged and tapered. I did filework and the hamon is quite bold. Again, I took more time on the sheath. I might have just about as much time into the sheath on the last 2 knives as I do the knives themselves. It is more fun than I thought. I rather like experimenting with the leather.

Here it is.

Ironwood handle, by the way.

I love the leather.... I'm learning to like leatherwork more and more. I really like how the carving seems to reach from one to another like they're seperated.

Knife is great of course :D

That is sick! Beautiful knife. I like every part of this knife., and although I am not generally the biggest fan of leather sheaths, this one is hot. Keep up the great work. ©

Thanks all. I used to dread leather work, but have been expiramenting with it and like it quite a bit now. The problem is that now I spend nearly as much time on a sheath as I do on a knife. Oh well, if it were my only job, I couldnt afford to do that without charging an arm and a leg, but since I work elsewhere, I can take as much time as I want.

Working on another sheath tonight :)

Great knife and sheath. File work is out a sight!! If you don't mind telling, what did you fill in the file work with?

Great stuff Matt!

I can see many more of your knives entering my collection in the future. :D

The filework is just filled in with the epoxy that I use to help attach the handles. It squishes into the filework, then I sand it smooth. It looks black, but it is actually clear.

i am a newbie, how do you get a tempur line like that? clay, partial quench?

-nice work!
