Forged 5160 and Micarta

Here is one I forged recently.

5160 Flat Grind w/convex edge
Old, Old Micarta Mortised Handle
416 Guard
OAL 11 1/4"
Blade Tip to Guard 6 1/4"

That's a nice looking utilitarian design. The slight cant on the guard helps the eye flow more easily past its usually interruptive line. That small, subtle angle makes a big difference to my eye.

It doesn't hurt that the handle is my favorite shape: single-finger groove followed by a semi-pistol grip to the butt. :):thumbup:
 
Hey Robert, Looks to me like you have offically caught the forging bug. I've really enjoyed seeing you last few knives...

I think you are right Ray. I was warned by many that forging is more addictive than drugs, but did I listen???????? Nooooooooooooo........ That glowing forge just kept saying, "come one big boy, try me just once".

Now, I don't know if I can ever recover.......... I admit it, I am a borderline forgeaholic.:)
