Been working on this one forever. Never made a knife this big before 12" over all length forged 5160 has a distal taper. Rockwell hardness of 58 ,triple tempered, Olive wood handle. Thanks to Jim Arbuckle for the heat treat and lots of forging advice along the way. So let me have it the good and the bad.

nice shape, im no authority but i think i got a pretty good eye, the filework is great but i think u might consider adding to it a bit, a three-sided file woule really finish it off nicely! : )

Good camp knife.Distal taper looks good ,too.I would either have the handle scales go farther forward,or have a smaller ricasso.Otherwise, good job.

Cool, how are you liking hand rubing that blade?:D I have to agree, I think the handle needs to be moved forward or less of a ricasso. Also may just be me or the pic, but looks like the point needs to be just a little lower to ballance everything out. Then again what do I know? Looks like it would handle any big camp jobs no problem, bet it can realy chop. Good job, now forge anouther!

thanks for the feedback everyone. And yes hand rubbing it was a pain until I started to use a 1/4 sheet sander to help out and then I finished the last grit by hand.

I'll throw in with Stacy and Will on moving the handle forward and/or a shorter ricasso, looks to be a great camp knife.
I dig the olive wood and filework.
Yep.:thumbup:Great camp knife and chopper.
Happy forging! :D
