I just got a Kevin Ceshen knife with a forged 1095 blade and stag handle.I am wondering what type of performance can be expected from a blade of this type. How will it compare to ATS-34,B42,440C etc.Edge holding, toughness, sharpness and ease of sharpening. Thanks

Hello,

Should perform just fine, although as im sure others will Chime in,that a Makers ability and Knowledge of the Proper Forging and heat treat methods, either make or Break a Knife as far as Cutting and strength performance goes. This is true no matter if it is a forged blade or a stockremoval blade.

If you don't mind, could you tell me how much he charge for such a knife?

Kevin Cashen has a fantastic reputation for making damascus swords. But those are way out of my price range.

You won't regret buying that forged blade!! IMHO, a properly forged blade will simply beat a stainless steel blade in all respects, except of course, rust & corrosion.
I just purchased a Talonite knife from Tom Mayo that holds a edge you wouldn't believe! And it is totally rust-proof....sharpens easily too.

I buy Kevin Cashen damascus and you will not be dissapointed, plus he guarentees his damascus.

A Cashen knife like the one I got with a five in. blade are priced in the mid to upper $200.00 range.I understand that he also makes a plain'ol hunter for about a hundred bucks.I may have to look for one of those for myself.Thanks.

Thanks Scott,

The thing about famous makers is that sometimes their reputation scares people off, thinking the price would be out of reach. Wow, looks like it was a great deal there.
