I wasn't sure if this would fit under the "custom camp knife/chopper" thread but I wanted folks to take a look.

This blade was inspired in part by the newest Rambo blades by Gil Hibben. I gave it a few of my own curves and used a split section of the handle as a guard. My intention was to do as much forging as possible. The blade is forged from 5160 leafspring. My intent was something similar to a machete yet not so flexible, something that could be used on thick brush but also on heavier limbs. I've had a few trees come down in the roads and block my way from time to time on the Nicaraguan back roads.

This project was a lot of fun. I'm still trying to come up with a good sheath solution other than leather.
Thanks for looking,
Mike

Looks like it will work GREAT. The guard is a good design to protect your hand while bushwhacking.

Thanks for the complements guys. I feel I should also give credit where it is due. This blade was also inspired by Tai Goo's blade making video from Hood's Woods. Tai teaches some excellent forging techniques.

Jason, you're too kind. I know darn well you'd make one much better than this! Hope you get a chance to visit again soon. The boys ask about you all the time.
