I JUUUST managed to get these completed in time for the big XMas family get-together. Knife and fork are hand forged from 1/2inch round bar Silver Steel (Similar to O1 or 52100 with Vanadium). I hot split the fork ends, which I'd never done before, so it ended up needing a LOT of stock removal to make the prongs in the end. Next time I'll just bandsaw the prongs ! The fork ends are spring tempered.
Blade is just over 1/8th inch thickness at the ricasso, distal tapered and is quite stiff. Blade length - 8inches. Handles are amboyna burl with 416SS pins, mosaic pin.
I brought these along to the family dinner and it got a few "Ooooh's" and "Aaaah's." I automatically got the honours slicing the turkeys and hams. I suppose this is "mine" for now but I haven't decided whether I should sell it or not.
Whaddya guys think ? Jason.
PS.- the pictures might be strange on some computers due to my editing. It wasn't visible on my home PC.
