I neglected to ask Joe what steel he used. OAL is 11 in., tapered tang, copper liners and pins, fossil ivory. Weighs in at 9.9 oz. He made this one some years ago and didn't want to sell it. Instead he'd take it to hammer-ins and such to include in his demonstrations and teaching. I liked it the first time I saw it and finally got around to asking if he'd sell it to me. The answer was a polite "no, it's not for sale." He said he'd make me one like it but I figured it wouldn't be the same and anyhow I liked 'this one.' He understood and we laughed about the idea that he wouldn't part with it yet no other one would do for me.

Some time went by and I got a surprise e-mail from Joe. He'd finally decided to let me have it! Don't know exactly why I like it so much. It's not fancy - it's just "right" somehow. I do like the forged 'finger guard' style he's known for and I have a hunter/utility knife by Joe that features it. (See below) Life is funny and people are funny too, I guess.

First , I am not into daggers at all but that is flippin' art if anything is , very - very nice :) I'm assuming that is Elephant Ivory ? I love when the forge marks are left on ... adds SO much more character.

But , that second knife , my word...... That is awe inspiring. That wood , what is it ? It is captivating to say the least... The sheath by itself is worthy of much comment.

Nice nice and ................ Nice !! :D

I love Joe's work and we don't get to see nearly enough of it on the forums - so a special thanks to Buddy. Both of these knives are terrific (as are the images). And both are signature Keeslar. I'm guessing Thuya burl for the second knife?
