Forged Fighter in black Micarta.

Looking for critiques. Sometimes I think things look OK, then look back at some early knives and think "What was I thinking ". It is easy to over look things until some one point them out.So any and all comment welcome. I used Micarta instead of a natural material on this more for the contrast with the spacer. It is forged 5160, mild steel guard and ferrule, composite turquoise spacer. OAL 14" Blade 8 1/2"

To be honest I really like it

All but the Spacer

It looks fast with the slight distel taper and I like the length of the handle and the material
 
I think the knife has very nice balance as far as contrast goes. I think the spacer adds something that would not otherwise be there; if that makes any seance.
I do think the handle and ferule somewhat overpower the blade. If the false edge was a bit more distinct in the way it is ground I believe it would be a plus.

Don't take my comment as a negative, I would gladly own such a beauty.

I like it a lot, but I think it would look even better, if the turquoise spacer was thinner.
 
Thanks for all the great comments. I don't consider them negative at all. I like "seeing" from other perspectives.

Shucks, it looks good to me. I keep coming back to this thread to look at it.

The only nits I would pick are based on personal preference, like blade shape (I prefer a little less "belly" for a fighter) and the guard (not a huge fan of plain flat guards).

I'm trying to decide if a handle pin or a buttcap/finial would help balance things. The turquoise does a good job at defining a focal point for the knife.
 
I think The whole knife looks bad and you should send it to me right away. Before your sorry that someone bought it. Hee Hee hee
 
I think the spacer is perfect. It adds the exact amount of elegance to a truly beautiful knife. Someday I hope to own something beautiful like this.
 
Thanks for all the feed back. It help me look at things differently , some time the smallest thing on a knife can make it a good knife or bad one....steve
