Recommendation? Forged firestriker

I want to find several of these, preferably forged by a forum member. Will you please give me recommendations? Thanks.​

You never filled out your profile, so no one knows where you live. That makes it hard to give an location accurate recommendation.
I have seen them show up in Gargets and Gear in The Exchange, too.


Basic Info:
Six to eight inches of 3/8" Square stock in 1095 or W1/W2 is what I have used. Old files also work very well as the stock material. Another stock size that works well is 1/2X1/4".
Forge the striker edge to about 1/8" thick and make sharp outer corners on it.
Draw the rest out in a taper, curl the ends., and curve/bend/shape the bow to fit your hand.
Brine quench and temper at 400°F. Torch draw the temper back in the handle areas.

A TIP for those who never used a striker -
You strike the stationary metal striker with the moving flint/chert. Most folks try it backwards and end up with cut knuckles and no fire. It is shavings of the metal you are shearing off, not bits of stone.

I guess I'm not clear what you're asking. Are you looking for buying advice? or advice on making them? I've made quite a few over the years. Mine tend to be simple shapes with one hardened edge. The last couple I made used 1920's Ford Model T springs, and threw some amazing showers of sparks.
 
Nate, I am looking for forum members who forge them so that I might consider a purchase.
