Hey everyone - I just shipped this knife out to its new owner and thought I'd post a few photos here for you all to see. I also documented the build with a WIP that I posted in the Shop Talk forum, which you can view by following this link. Anyway, here's the knife.

I forged the blade from a bar of high manganese 1084 steel. It's 1/4" thick at the spine and just over 5" in length. The blade was fully hardened and then drawn back to a spring temper at the tang, ricasso, and spine for toughness. The guard is made of some old wrought iron, etched and blued, and set off with stainless steel and phosphor bronze spacers. The handle is a nicely figured piece of desert ironwood, and the pin a 3/16" stainless steel.

Here's a little macro shot to show off the 800 grit finish and the fittings. The satin-finished bevels, rough forge-finish blade flats, etched and blued wrought iron guard, polished stainless and bronze spacers, and highly figured ironwood handle were an interesting study in texture, color, and contrast.

The sheath is a basic 10oz leather rig that holds the knife nice and snug...

Thanks once again for indulging me. As always, comments, questions, critiques, and totally offensive insults are welcomed.

That's just gorgeous! Love the blade, and that is some of the prettiest ironwood I've seen.

Outstanding work..........love your choice of materials and the texture you've got going on and, yes, that Ironwood is amazing. :)

That is a super-nice piece. I'm sure the new owner will be most pleased. I sure would be. I particularly like the forge texture blade finish and the execution of the guard - both in terms of shape and materials. Well done.
