Here is my latest commissioned piece. This, I believe, is going to be a raffle prize at a stock show. I had the opportunity to put some of the suggestions and critique from the last hunter I posted to use.

I put more of a curve in the heel of the blade instead of a straighter dropped heel. The customer specified a 'guardless' design so I thought that would look nice.

Also took Kevin Jones' suggestion and used some 416 stainless instead of german silver. I really like how it works and polishes. A little tougher to fit up right but well worth it in the end, IMO.

Specs:
Hand forged from 1075 steel, clay quenched and etched
8" overall, 4" blade w/ 3 5/8" sharp, .190" at the ricasso with nice distal taper
Heavily rounded spine and ricasso edge for comfort
416 stainless collar
Stabilized buckeye burl handle

All comments and discussion encouraged. :)

I like it John! I like the overall "gray" look it has. Very clean as always.

John, I like it a lot. Looks like it should be good in the hand. As well good in the field.

Sweet knife, John. Super clean execution as always. That burl is awesome too!

Great looking knife John.
and the buckeye......very good stuff.
It is a rarity to see that tight of burl figure with buckeye.

Very clean. Wonderful attention to detail. The even edge thickness on the spacer looks perfect but my only thought is that it would be sharp to the fingers. Love the detail to the butt of the knife.

Thank you for all the comments. I really appreciate it.

So where do I buy these raffle tickets?

Pete, I think it's a prize for one of the contests at a stock show. No raffle. :)

I am in love with that collar John.

Thanks Don. I really like how the 416 polishes too. I might go to using that from now on instead of German silver.

Mark, thank you. I agree about the rarity of this burl. It's a block left from the couple of burls I cut up myself. I only have a few blocks left.

Thank you for the comment. The collar has nice crisp edges that are defined nicely but they aren't sharp at all. Everything is chamfered lightly, and/or buffed. Even the front edge of the collar has had that sharp 'knife edge' eased. I'm very particular about having all sharp corners where your hand might touch knocked down, especially on my hunters. The only thing sharp on the whole knife is the cutting edge. :)

Thanks again for the comment.
