Just finished the sheath up for this blade tonight. I've been trying to do more "traditional"-style stuff to increase my range and have some fun doing it. :D It has a 5-inch cutting edge and is 11 3/4-inches overall with a damascus guard. (got a little grease on the blades in the bottom two pics)

Very nice package. The wood is great, the blade is very nice with the hamon and the guard ties it all together. Great package.

That's a great-looking knife that would make a terrific all-purpose blade. Gorgeous wood.

Thanks, this was its second handle. I found some massive voids in the first handle after I was almost done sculpting it. :(

Nice clean lines. The wood looks solid and is appealing to the eye. Nice work on the sheath too. Thank you for sharing these pictures. What steel is it made of and what is the blade thickness? What wood have you used for the handle?

The wood is maple burl that was stabilized by WSSI. The steel is 1065 and it is around 3/16-inches thick.

Perfect ,no I really mean "perfect" the blade with the hamon in 1065 is exactly what I like. I don't like damascus blades unless they are really subtle because
it is so busy but it makes a perfect accent. The usfull and practical blade shape is one of my favorites and the plunge cut is stunning. I am a newby hobby maker and am trying to learn plunge cuts and mine don't look like that. Actually mine are so bad I catch myself thinking "this drop hunter might look better with a habaki".
Congrats ,when I first got into knives I was a tactical fan but as my taste matured I found myself having a new appreciation for the classics.
