forged solingen steel

Forged steel can mean many things. It is open to interpretation. In the classic sense, it should mean that the steel was hammer forged into a blade shape and then finished off into a knife.

It may also more likely mean that it is hot/cold rolled stock which in itself is a mild forging. Not as good as true forging though. Also, the larger the hammer, the better the forging. :D

From the picture your knife appears more of an art knife than a user. It may be good not sure, but I would use a more std knife for EDC.

my plan was to remove the handle and make a push dagger out of the blade with some deer antler. Is this something that could be done? Thanks for your help, John

Forged steel means it has been forged rather than machined out of a block of steel. The 'Solingen steel' however can mean anything that is made in Solingen Germany.
