That's a great looking chute knife. I also really like the sheath.

Is this a full tang? The reason I ask is that I find tool steels like 1084 will stain from the chemicals in sweat and the oils that are on the palms of our hands.

I LOVE Chute knives!! And I LOVE the one that you made & the sheath for it.

I like it!

Mike

Do you really like it, Mike? If not, a PM to the maker might be helpful.

I like the blade, but not the handle, it is a little to long, and the shape is not quite right, as well as the fighter guard wings being a little too thick.

*Deep breath*.....................................

And.... Ahhhhhh......

STeven really is back. ;) :D

I think it's great and I'm glad to see you posting your work Steve!

I don't think he was going for a Loveless chute STeven, just inspired by one. :)

The handle is very interesting looking and I appreciate the extra length of handle for comfort.

Thanks, Nick...but that begs the question, if not going for a Loveless chute, why bother? There is simply no chute design BETTER than the Loveless design...that is not my opinion, that is fact, as determined by market....so why not interpret the best?

There are still plenty of variations that would be allowable, like longer blade, different handle/guard combinations, grind subtleties....

As I said before, the blade is excellent.

I'm another one that doesn't think that a chute has to look like a Loveless to be a great looking knife. I've seen lots of subhilts that don't look like Bears, and most of them looked just fine.

I happen to think the handle on this knife looks great, and the guard as well.

Hey, Keith, I'm but one voice in the wilderness...and frequently a lone one...and you are known for being of the Coop Kumbaya Camp...so you response is not only not a surprise, but expected.

That's okay, the way you post has come to be expected as well.

Would you buy this knife...as it is? Would you order it this way?

I wouldn't....but if it was made the way I wanted it/what I am pointing out.....and the price represented good value...I would be all over it like a cheap suit!!...ask Charles Vestal.

Best Regards,

If I got to see a drawing before hand and it looked like this knife, I would ask that the arms of the guard be thinner, but that is about the only change I would request. If I didn't get to see a drawing and the knife came to me like this, I wouldn't be disappointed. As I posted earlier, I like the way it looks.

Looks good to me. I like the choice of steel too. Staining with use is a good thing to me. I like custom knives that show their age and miles traveled.
