OAL: 9"
BL: 4 1/4"
Forged W2
3/8" at the gaurd with full distal taper to point
Ironwood, 15n20, and Rudolf handle
Stainless steel gaurd and pin

The Iron wood ended up with a very slick finish so the stippling was more for function. After completed I really liked the way it looks also, but function before beauty!

Another nice hamon, even with no acid etching W2 shows a real nice temper line.

i have seen several w-2 knives hear and most have a sweet hamon, i havn't seen that as much with all other steels, why is this? do the people who use w-2 forge their knives and therfore can/want a nice hamon

That is one nice looking little hunter.

Thanks John

I am no expert nor a metalurgist but there are many High carbon steels I have can get the same degree of Hamon/Temperline/Harden Line what ever you prefer to call it. W2-1095-1084-1080-5160. I think it depends on where your critical temp is on the blade and how fast you can close the window with out cracking or warping.

That's my favorite knife of yours that I have seen.
Thank you Keith, I am trying to find a specific direction in my styles and designs I want to go, not quite there yet, but I am closing in on it.

Nice work. I really like the texturing on the handle.

Roger

Thanks Roger, I will be incorporating more of the texturing/stippling in my handles, especially when I start inlaying with silver.

I really like it.
Nice overall profile, the texturing adds both aesthetically and functionally.
I like combining wood and stag on a handle when done right. Jay Hendrickson is of course a master at this. But then you know that. ;)

Thanks Kevin. My dad worked with Jay many years at IBM. I had no Idea he even knew him until earlier this year. In Feb. my dad introduced me to Jay, ever since then I have been at his shop atleast once a week. I made this knife with Jays style in mind but with a little of my own thoughts also. Its going to be a gift to my dad as a thanks for the introduction.

Hi Scott,

Your knives have always appeared to be well-made and it's obvious you take time and are proud. Nicely done.

Email sent on minor critique.
