Forget Bears, it's the Deer ya should worry about !

Get between a momma and ANYTHING and you're gonna see some overt aggression! Rock on, little momma! Rock on!

Wow, poor dog! This is one of those times to put down the camera and help, I hate when people just stand around and watch. Ya you could definately get hurt but if that was my dog I'd be chasing that deer off instead of yelling from a safe distance.

That cat sure was taking it's life into it's own hands as well.

I remember reading an article recently that talked about how more people are attacked by bison than bears in Yosemite, precisely because they are seen as less threatening.

You take a large animal with strong muscles, and it can put you in a world of hurt, regardless of whether it eats grass or babies for its primary source of protein.

Damn Nature, you scary!

If you watch that cat's behavior, it was definitely predatory. It would have taken that fawn if the size disparity weren't there. The cat even clawed at the doe later on.

Yep, cats will take on anything if they think it could be food. My sister's 45lb bobcat used to leap on her horses neck and hang on all the time. The horse just ignored him after awhile. I don't think that would happen if the bobcat had his claws.

My Grandpa was stalking a whitetail buck in tall grass, wound up walking right atop it as it was crouched down in the brush-wound up working him over pretty good.

I think I could take it if the fight went to the ground... I haz awsum grownd skilz.:p

get between any momma animal and their baby, and you will pay...just be happy it was a momma attacking that guy, and not the dad...those antlers would hurt!

What interested me most was that it looked like the fawn saw the dog first, and it's response is apparently to drop down as low as possible (makes sense in tall grass, not so much on a sidewalk). It looked to me like it was the fawn dropping down that alerted mama to the dog, or at least that the dog was worth being aggressive to.

Thats just crazy....I really thought the cat was gonna get his arse handed to him. Poor dog was probably just curious, that deer had to move a good distance to get to it too.

Makes me wonder how many Coyotes have gotten their asses kicked in the wild. God knows they've sure eaten enough fawns.
