Forging 154cm

Does anyone have experience forging 154cm. Does it adversly affect the steel in any way. I don't need to forge it to shape, just use my forge to bend the steel billet to the correct curvature. Otherwise I will have to buy a 4" wide piece as opposed to a 1.5" wide. Thanks for any advice.

It should not have any adverse effects, however be very careful when heating as 154 is air hardening. Try to keep the heat as low as possible to do the bend. Then I would still do a full spherodize anneal just to be safe. Then grind a finish like normal.
