Forging material question?

[Chuck Gedraitis Knives]

I am currently involved in a machine shop class at a local high school, and they are cleaning house, throwing away large drills, slotting saw blades, hugh bolts ect! What types of things should I help myself to, to be used to forge into blades?

I would collect them to have them resharpend or scrap!!

Hi Chuck
Take everything they will let you have.
It amazes me the things that get used in a knife shop.
Even if you don't use the materials for forging you will want to build things for your shop and they can be very usefull then.
