I just got a big piece of this steel in 15" x 6" x 0.5"

Here is the data sheet of the steel http://www.bucanada.ca/media/UDDEHOLM_SLEIPNER.pdf

The size is way to big to be cut into smaller blade... to much material waste.

So I plan to watercut it into piece and lets my knife maker friend forge it to knife shape.

I know forging cold work tool steel is not a very good idea but anyone have suggestion if I really need to do. All heat treat equipment we have are gas forge, digital control gas oven and low temp salt baht (300-500F)

Thanks!

Forge between 2100f and 1750f. Full cycle anneal after forging.

Will be a lot stiffer than carbon steel. Finish forge at the lower end of temp range.
