This weekend I had the opportunity to do some intensive training under the tutelage of Dan Farr. Bladeforum's very own Roger Pinnock (RogerP) arranged a little shindig at Dan's for the three of us, where Roger and I would be working side-by side on a collaboration piece for Roger's collection. Rather than generate a redundant thread describing the event, I'll defer you to Roger's thread in progress in the Custom Arena:

The 72 Hour Bowie

Hope you guys enjoy!

Roger put on a most excellent pictorial of what had to have been an absolutely great time. It looks like it was great fun, Matt, and a wonderful educational experience. Helluva knife you two built in record time.

i love it!
awesome.. you do great work!
so how did you manage to snag an opportunity like that?
peace
~Chris

Nice work Matt!! Thats really good grinding you did on that, pat yourself on the back. Now go make some more!
Paul

PS I was thinking about shaving until I saw you pictures, then I realized...

It was a real pleasure working alongside Matt. Dan was extremely generous with his time and patience and we both learned an awful lot. Most of all, it was a real blast - I can't imagine describing any other 14 hour plus work days in that way.

Chris - next time I go back, I'll give you a shout.

Roger

Roger,
a 14 hour day in the shop isn't work... thats pleasure! *grins* and hard work too....
if you get the opportunity again.. i would love to hear about it
thanks a bunch!
~Chris

We just call it "work" so no one realises we are spending all that time in the shop and having fun :D.
