I had to split some wood for kindling and went to the workroom to grab a knife. On the bench was my SHSHII from splittin a shingle for the same duty last night. I grabbed it. "Yeah. This'll do the trick!"

Then I looked at that pristine spine. Never been hit with a log before. No black coating touched. . .

I grabbed my user FSH instead. And pounded with abandon.

Would the SHSHII have handled it? Absolutely.

Would I have dinged the coating? Unlikely, but possible.

Am I a wuss? Yeah. I admit it. Eitehr that or I've got waaay too many knives. . . wait, that's what my wife says!

STRIP IT - Then POUND IT!:foot::D:thumbup:

Hard to tell from the pics but those 3 leaf lil plants in the background look like they could be itchy if one is not careful!!!!!

Are they really that smooth under the coat? (INFI-dimples on hte handle excepted.)

I believe so - they are flat ground through the dimples, so... just dimples where you see on mine

:D Those are baby oak trees, growing from acorns in my back yard. But, if I saw them in the wild.... leave 'em be.

I'm so ashamed for you. :o

Actually, I have a polished spine SH-E that I haven't beaten yet, but fully intend to. I keep telling myself I'm going to get a long Spec-Ops Combat Master sheath for it and THEN go pound the dickens out of it. Just haven't gotten around to getting that sheath yet... :p

Your punishment is that you must send your SHSHII to me for break-in.
I'll be sure you get it back in about "2 weeks". :D

Hey. Back off, guys! LOL

I've used it for light household chores. I've chucked it several hunnert times into a stump. Just never beat the spine. It looked too good to beat. :)

That and my FSH appears to be ground into a convex grind. VERY cool profile. Similar to my 1918 Bolo.
