Forgive me for this dumbass question

I normally check the archives for information before posting, but with this, I don't know what keywords to use.

I never used to mind the omnipresent black coating that comes standard with so many blades, but now I'd like to try my hand at getting rid of some.

What do you use to rid yourselves of these meddlesome enamels?
 
That's my Ranger RD-6. The entire knife was coated. Bottom knife in pic.
